Toydemon decided to use Fedex for my order, they also allowed me to pay extra money for 2 day shipping even though Fedex has been completely screwed for weeks now. Of course at the time I didn't know better and even if I did I still wouldn't have known that Toydemon would choose Fedex for shipping because the customer just chooses speed of shipping, we do not actually choose which company will ship it.
My package was supposed to arrive a week ago since I selected 2 day shipping, it's now still sitting in Memphis half way across the country from me with no updates or anything and the delivery date is "pending". Of course no refunds, nothing Toydemon will do about it, nothing Fedex will do about it, they are both dodging responsibility because "muh covid".
I'm making this topic to warn people, be careful because Fedex has still not even come close to recovering, so if Toydemon decides to use them to ship your package, you can expect weeks of delays and at worst you may not even ever get your package. Look it up on the news if you're curious, peoples packages are being delayed for weeks by Fedex because the south of the US got hit with like 4 inches of snow 3 weeks ago.
Be careful with your orders, don't get screwed over like I did. This is the first time I ever had a problem with Toydemon but it's a huge problem and I'm extremely upset, mainly with Fedex but also with Toydemon.

@Menthols As a former FedEx driver it sounds to me that your beef is with FedEx. Keep pestering them on the phone and soon you should be able to file a claim to at least get your shipping charges refunded by FedEx.
You hold the responsibility of not factoring in the weather delay and not knowing what FedEx's policy is when it does come to delays.
Sit down.

@winkyblink With all of the shipping carriers (UPS, FedEx, USPS), they do not refund shipping on acts of god such as weather delays and natural disasters. In fact, with COVID, FedEx already do not refund any shipping delays (at least that's what is being told to us). This is why we put up the notices and agreements.
We are extremely frustrated with issues this time because FedEx is skipping their usual SOP. Packages will go from Memphis, TN to delivered on the next scan. That's why we can only tell the ones affected to be patient and bear with us while FedEx sorts this out.

@winkyblink I do not think it is appropriate to use the comment section to tell someone with a legitimate concern to "Sit down", even if there is some sort of disagreement about the way they expressed themselves. I do not think that is the sort of thing we want this this community comment section to be about.

@Belmar While "sit down" may be a bit forward, they're generally right in what they're saying. With COVID and the huge storms that were/are hitting the midwest, it's pretty expected that there's the possibility of delays, and complaining can't really change the facts that everything has been kinda fucked. This post seems more ranty than anything and it's not saying anything novel tbh. Everybody's hands are tied right now, so what's the point complaining just for the sake of it. I also recall TD having some kind of disclaimer/warning about the weather recently too. Regardless, in the end it'll ship, and while waiting x days/weeks does suck, at least it's still faster than international shipping usually is.

@Menthols As I have responded to you on your comment in the other topic:
"We are sorry you're experiencing the delay by FedEx right now. You're frustrated, we are frustrated. Depending on where you're from the winter storm in the past week was literally covering 75% of the country, not just where we are located in IL.
We have been constantly tracking and talking to FedEx, but as you can imagine, there's nothing we can do. We can only wait till they sort it out, and if it's missing or gone, we can then claim with them and then reship and get reimbursed.
As for why we use FedEx and not others, if you're familiar with economy of scale, you'd understand why. Us being purely FedEx, FedEx is able to give us the rates that allow us to offer Free Shipping at $50. If we split our shipment between UPS, FedEx, USPS, then our rate with all 3 shipping companies will be worse. Shipping cost is just going to keep going up going forward, unless technology of getting physical goods across the country to a person's door can somehow be revolutionized.
If we offer all 3 like we mentioned above, our flat rate might end up going up to $12.99 or more while free shipping might need to go up to $75 or even $100. You might be ok with that as you mentioned, but I am not so sure others will.
Again, we're very sorry for what happened to your order along with many others that have the same issue. Please just be patient with us as I doubt this will be a reoccurring issue (I really don't want to see any more snow in March / Spring, but who really knows with the crazy things lately), but rest assured that if your package does end up lost or missing, we will make it right."
How are we dodging responsibility? When you made your order, you specifically clicked on that "You acknowledge the weather delay and will not hold ToyDemon accountable for not meeting the delivery date." I also mentioned in my last response to you that if it ends up missing or lost, then we can claim them with FedEx and reship to you or refund if you so choose.
If instead you want to just throw "muh covid" and say that we're dodging responsibility when we clearly have informed you ahead of time when selecting your shipping method and told you that if it's lost that we'll take care of it, then so be it.

@**ToyDemon** He only seems wrong in lumping TD and FedEx together. I don't believe he probably really meant it. He knows you are not responsible for snow or sickness.
I do not see why it matters if the guy checked a non optional box acknowledging weather delay. There is no current weather to explain a package currently stuck in Memphis. It would not hurt to make it more clear on the checkout page that FedEx is the shipper. (I am not sure it would help much, but then no one could complain about it.)
I am familiar with economies of scale. The principle benefit to FedEx of exclusivity is eliminating customer choice and minimizing competition. I don't think Toydemon should feel an obligation to offer an economic explanation for market conditions that Toydemon has no control over.

@Belmar in his original comment within a different topic he had mentioned he had rather paid more with UPS, and I copied my comment which included the explanation why we only offer FedEx and the reason behind it.
Our agreement is meant as such, if delay is an issue for you, do not order. You can wait until the delay is gone and then place your order. You have been with us for a long time, this is the first time that we actually had to include a required agreement because we know how bad it was getting and could get worse. Of course some orders got delayed while some orders didn't.. It would be the same story if we were using USPS or UPS instead of FedEx.

@**ToyDemon** I just personally want to say that I personally really appreciate the use of FedEx as they are the only shipping service who consistently gets my packages to me. (USPS has a key to my building and I have had more problems with them than FedEx.) Never personally had an issue with receiving ToyDemon packages and I'm sure a large part of that has to do with the use of FedEx.

@Gjrams It is important to contact our customer service if you have an issue or believe you have an issue. Your package is early and haven't been delayed. The original delivery estimate given at checkout was today 3/11 but it already arrived at the FedEx Pickup location last week on 3/4. Please go pickup your package as soon as possible today to avoid the package being return back to us tomorrow because it wasn't picked up in time.
Gjrams ( 13 )
@**ToyDemon** Wow you're right. The issue was that Fedex tracking says it is still in transit AT the warehouse facility, not "delivered," and specifically states that it is not yet available for pickup, despite being scanned at the pickup office. I've never had this happen. Their clerk thought this was odd too, but was not an isolated occurence. Thanks for being proactive.
coldsun ( 1 )
@Menthols I have ordered a couple toys in a month. Both times Fedex was late - first time over a week, and now this current one is 3 days late. I'm wondering if FedEx is screening these boxes and holding them for law enforcement to investigate or something. So weird - I've never had problems shipping through FedEx but they are terrible all the sudden and won't give me a clear answer as to way my package has been on the truck 2 days in a row but not delivered. Seriously - status says to be delivered on truck then at the end of the day after delivery time is over (8PM my area) they change the status to back in the facility. Very strange. Its been here in town for 4 days!

@coldsun I have heard that packages get placed on a pallet, then get scanned and recorded as out for delivery. So packages may just be sitting on a pallet at the facility waiting to be loaded into a truck for days, but still being labeled as 'on truck for delivery". Just a possibility to consider.

@slvstk Or it's the activity of a lazy driver.
When I used to work for FedEx, we were allowed up to 3 "attempts" to deliver a package. The typical judgment within the terminal mindset of these guys:
- this particular client or package can wait for this package because he or it isn't as important as the other clients or packages that the driver has to deal with that day,
- the driver that has this particular package normally does not handle this particular delivery route and the terminal managers put it on that driver's pallet, which could also mean...
- the driver that does have this package is a flex (or even a temporary) driver. These flex drivers typically have little experience, are typically unfamiliar with most routes, and have to do ALLOT of driving between deliveries just to get through the day.
The bottom line though is that it comes down to the terminal managers. They are the ones who have to stay on top of their drivers to get above a 97% delivery rate on a monthly basis.
Which is why I encourage people to complain to customer service always. The managers and the driver will get your complaints but only if you make them.

@Menthols Fedex has been having issues handling and delivering packages properly for at least 5 years. Whenever I have an issue they refuse to do anything about it unless I'm the shipper. Then they stonewall the shipper too usually. Covid and 'Texas weather' are just scapegoats they are currently using to escape any responsibility for their continual poor business practices and choice to keep low quality employees. Anyone who wants to defend Fedex needs to sit down themselves.

@Menthols I just want to tell you I feel you. Personally I have no problems with FedEx they are pretty much the only shipping company that consistently delivers to my apartment with no hassles (this is in general not just with ToyDemon purchases by the way), this includes USPS which has a key to enter my building.
By far the most problems I've had were with UPS though, they'll mark packages delivered without even coming close to my location and sometimes they'll claim they couldn't enter the building because they don't read my delivery instructions.
I've personally never had issues with ToyDemon orders, however I know how annoying it can be when you're supposed to get a package within a certain timeframe and the package either never arrives or is improperly marked as delivered for one reason or another. We've even caught UPS drivers taking pictures of the package at our door before going off with out package and it was a huge pain and took forever to sort out. (Eventually the guy got fired or disciplined because we haven't had it happen for awhile now.)
I don't work for ToyDemon, but I'm pretty sure this particular issue is out of their control, but I wanted to let you know that you are heard and I understand your frustration.

@Menthols FedEx seems to have had problems before covid19. The trouble I have is less the time it takes than their inability to correctly estimate day of delivery. Once a package leaves the Chicago area, it generally takes the FedEx estimate of two days if it takes the quickest route to the Kansas City distribution center -if there are no mishaps. There is frequently a mishap. If a package is "in transit" in a tiny town in New York, I know it won't get to me by the end of the day. So why can't FedEx know?. Covid19 did not cause that package to be in New York, or to cause a package to miss the Kansas City, Missouri distribution center and continue to Kansas. On the Fedex tracking page, there is a drop down menu to give times for different time zones. The time differential for that package that was in New York put both the origin and destination 5 time zones EAST of New York (London) instead of 1 time zone WEST of New York (Chicago). FedEx is famous for implementing real time computer tracking in 1979. What the heck happened?
