Was going through some stuff and I did see that I have a bottle of lube that I got on here that still have quite a decent amount left (over half) but I haven't been using it in quite a bit due to trying out some new stuff and kind of ignoring it. Its past it's expiration date posted on the bottom of the bottle (dec 2021) but I do store my bottles well, it's away in a closet when not needed and not laying out and about with the caps off, directly in the sunlight. I also don't notice any thing off about it visually nor weird odors, not like it smelled like anything before anyways.
So I was just quickly wondering if there's any health risks in terms of using out of date lubes/lotion, especially the water based on since all the lotions on here are listed as water based. Just taking some extra precautions and I kinda don't want to waste it.

@IntergratedCheese Something we want to point out while reading your post. Please make sure it is the expiration date. There's isn't a uniform rule for date printing on lotions. Some brands will state the recommended expiration date on their lotion while other brands will list the date it was manufactured. This makes a big difference if you misread one for the other. For those listing the manufactured date, all lotions are recommended to be used within 3 years of the date of manufacturing.
If the lotion is indeed past expiration and hasn't been used in a long time, it is recommended to examine it for any color, smell, and/or consistency changes as well as spot test on a tiny spot on your skin before using the lotion as normal.

@**ToyDemon** yeah so pretty much all of the lotion that I currently have lists both the expiration and what I'm assuming is the manufacturing date at the bottom. They're listed as EXP: and LOT:
So for the bottle I was talking about in the post. At the bottom it's listed as such:
- EXP: 211217
- LOT: 191217
The only exception is that I have one 250ml Meiki Bliss lotion which Im not too sure where the date for that one is because the bottom of the bottle doesn't have a similar marking and I don't really see anything resembling some sort of date.

I just researched this a bit out of curiosity and from what I can gather LOT numbers are not a date but the batch number that your lube was made in. I assume that all commercial lube and lotions are made in big vats or something similar. The LOT numbers or letters help identify which vat, on which date the lube you bought is part of. If there is ever a major recall or health and safety issue then you can check which LOT codes were affected and take appropriate action.
