So it took me numerous tries to finally download it. I have not had the chance to play it yet, but I will definitely spend some time with it this weekend. For the few here that owns Switch and are MH fans, let me know what you think!

@**ToyDemon** it's good fun. Mount mechanic has changed allowing for small monster v monster combat. The silkbind skills are interesting depending on which weapon you use. Overall I think it's a step in the right direction away from world but something feels a bit off still. That said I'm going to be getting it for sure(this was a given since I've been buying monhun games since FU)

@dreamyrobot I actually never played World, did you play World and did you like it? Does Rise feel more World or more Generations/4?
The QOL changes are great, but coming from Generations, I do feel something is slightly off. When you hit the monster the delay and the sound just doesn't as satisfying like I really "hit" the monster. But I am sure it's something I'll get over soon enough.
Playing the demo at first, everything felt kinda foreign and I kept pressing wrong buttons. But after playing the demo a few more times, everything came back to me as muscle memory. Those thousands of combined MH hours are coming back now and I can't wait!

Was able to give this a go over the weekend with some friends. I haven't tried the solo hunts that teach the new mechanics just yet, but the group play was fun. We successfully hunted something that looked like a Great Jaggi and took out a giant bear first (was able to mount this guy with a prompt and use him to do a lot of damage to the Jaggi). There's another hunt that sends you after what looks like a Chinese-style Dragon--he killed us once and we wanted to try the other monsters. We found a Rathalos on that mission, but my friends died too many times for us to take him down (in fairness I was being cheezy and using the bow).
I haven't really played since 4u, but the core mechanics seem present and solid. I tried using dual blades--like most weapons, using them effectively requires knowing monster attack patterns. Bow was different from my recollection in 4u--I threw all of my coatings at monsters but couldn't cause e.g. sleep or exhaustion even going for headshots. Palamutes are fun, but I think they made them a little too good relative to the palicos--I'm a cat person so I wanted to use a palico, but its impossible to ignore having a palamute mount. The grappling hook is useful for traversal and has some neat options for recovery.
TLDR the demo was fun--it convinced me to buy the game if I'll be able to do some online hunting with friends.

@mephistophe Thanks for the impressions! I tried over the weekend too, my last MH was Generations so it's been a while also.
The new mechanics takes a little bit of time to get used to. I don't use the wire bug much at all at first, just playing it like old MH, but now I am slowly using it to dodge out of the way and to traverse, which is nice.
I love the change to a consistent world map with no load time vs. areas that you need to cross and load, that's an awesome change. I am still unsure about being able to just pick up bugs as you run around vs. prepping items for a mission. However, this is only a demo so maybe in the full game it will feel much better.
I like the palamutes too as they help you get to places and climb faster which is awesome. However, I noticed in 4 players, with 4 palamutes, I cannot see a thing when we fight a monster (I use horn). 4 palamutes attacking, and 4 hunters attacking, So much going on and you can barely see yourself. Good thing they let us zoom out on the camera and that makes a little bit better.
Overall the game still feels a lot of fun with 4 players and I can't wait to get the game either, already pre-ordered it. I am also surprised at how well it ran online with 4 players and 4 palamutes. It's not super silky smooth 60fps, but I didn't notice any frame rate drops for it to ruin my experience. Hats off to Capcom!

Giving it a go with some friends later this weekend. I missed MH:W (I didn't have a good enough PC or console at the time), so I'm excited to get back into the series. Will report back later!
