I get that the current heart system is loosely based on reddit's upvote system, but with site incentives like reward points heavily based on them I'm not sure I get the lack of transparency. Anyone else feel the same way?

@t23 I sort of do as well I find it strange how the hearts are shown but the specific way points are given is by things like number of comments as I recently found out.

@Ineviolet appreciate it!
We just want the TD community to be more robust and the users to participate more and help each other out while getting rewarded for doing so.

@StarTrekFan we do explain the how each achievement work in the community topic here: https://www.toydemon.com/community/website-updates/community-achievement-is-now-live
@t23 We're not sure how we can be more transparent? If we didn't want to give away reward points, we simply didn't have to add achievements to the community.
For example, the comment based achievement, we have database that keeps track of each user's comments, and simply outputs the number in your profile. How can we be more transparent about that? If we decided to remove 10 comments every time someone is about to get the achievement, we can do that with simple code and no one would really know, but what would be the purpose for us?
Same with upvote, it's calculated as Upvote received - Downvote received, and rewards are given based on that. Since its inception, we actually have noticed that some users have tried to game the system by simply creating new accounts and just upvote themselves to gain the rewards. It's very obvious because our community isn't like actual reddit that it topics can get "viral" and it's very apparent to us once we check the database. There aren't many users that do that, but if more and more users abuse it, we might consider removing the achievement system.
So that's why we are not sure what you mean by the lack of transparency. If we weren't fine with giving away the points, we would have never came up with the system to begin with.

@**ToyDemon** Thanks for sharing the link I appreciate it. As well T23 under community settings it shows the number of comments you have made the only thing missing from the list is upvotes. But since this can go up and down a lot more then the comments or other things on the list I assume they aren't included on that list for that reason?
**ToyDemon** ( 10122 )
@StarTrekFan Yes, that's part of the reason and also because it can be gamed the most easily by simply creating another account or 2 and just upvote themselves on every review/topic/comment.
To us, organic upvotes are very important in that when achieved organically, it really means the topic/comment/review was very helpful and thus received upvote from the users. You can also see from that chart that it gives away the most rewards as well.
That's why we don't display it and we never did previously either, because it can fluctuate and we don't want users coming to us asking that they had 24 upvotes yesterday, but only have 20 today. It's the internet, maybe someone downvoted because grammar or spelling was wrong......who knows!)
Rest assured that there's no point for us at all to purposely NOT give reward when a person is contributing quality info to the community.

@**ToyDemon** Thanks I think I can speak for the entire community when I say that the points are very much appreciated.
