Hi, as some of you might be aware, new tariffs have been announced, and most notable ones that will affect the products on ToyDemon are China (additional 34% tariff to the original 20% at the beginning of the year, making it 54% now) and Japan (24% just announced yesterday).
Most of our products are imported from Japan and even though the vendors are in Japan, some of their onaholes are manufactured in China. We have already contacted DHL and our shipping companies for more clarification on how this will soon carry out and the exact math of the tariffs.
Once we have more information, we will update on how it'll affect us along with the price adjustments we might be making. Thank you for your patience.

So we had just heard back from our DHL rep after they had their internal meeting and the news is worse than we originally thought.
China - 20% from beginning of 2025 + 34% from the board + 10% tariff from all countries = 64% additional tariff on China.
Japan - 24% from the board + 10% tariff from all countries = 34% additional tariff on Japan.
As we know situation is still fluid and could change day to day, we will update once we learn or have anything new to share.
We are also working on figuring out the effect of these tariffs on our prices. As much as we'd like to keep prices the same, additional 64% and 34% increase in cost on majority of our products makes it impossible. Once we have something concrete, we will make an announcement in the very near future.

So we posted too early. It's supposedly now 114% tariff on China now.

Now it's 135% on China, and 10% on Japan. We might stop updating the tariff rates but will update once we have a definite actionable plan from our end.

Would it be possible to do a flash sales on pre-tariff stock → clear out current inventory while giving customers a fighting chance to stock up?

@Fel We understand your concern. However, having a flash sale on pre-tariff stock is tough because we have consistent new replenishment coming into the mix. If we do a flash sale on pre-tariff stock, it'll just make everyone buy now and not buy new stuff, and we'll be stuck with new items that won't move.
Rest assured that we are not just going to do 114% and 34% price hikes respectively. Instead, we are running some numbers and possibly items from China and Japan will just cost say 20% / 10% more or our monthly sales just cannot be up to 20 or 25% anymore, or maybe we have to up the Free Shipping threshold to 100$ so that we have room to work with. We are still running different calculations and scenarios.

@**ToyDemon** From my experience on the site I think it's fairly hard to discern if a product was manufactured in China or Japan. The "Designed in" mostly just tells the companies origin country. I've also seen toys that say "Made in Japan" on the box with "Made in China" in their on-site description. With the differences in tariffs I think it would be great if discerning the two can be easier, highly appreciate the updates on this situation.

@Drew4th Yes we are aware of that. However, when we import them, the manufacturer states which item is from China and which is from Japan. Whether they are 100% accurate or not is beyond us, as we can only follow information they give us. We are currently checking all our invoices from all our suppliers to add those info so that we can clearly distinguish which is which so that the added cost of tariffs will correspond correctly.

@BSG Onaholes are so niche outside of Japan that most of the top onahole brands don't even have English websites. And aside from toydemon there isn't any medium-large sized website that has a good selection. Even on Amazon they're censored products. I think those facts alone speak for themselves.

@**ToyDemon** I'm real sorry guys I've wanted to purchase something from you for ages and you're a great company but I honestly don't know if I'll be able to justify it with all these added costs. Like I don't even know how expensive it will be as someone living in Canada. Like it's already in American dollars and it's already likely going to be going up in price. The shipping is real high I can't even find if Canada has additional tariffs on sex toys. I don't know what the regular import fees are. Like it's just so damn annoying.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet. Countries are already calling in and lowering their tariffs so they don't get hit as well.
Though China is doubling down and escalating the issue, and Japan is known for being extremely stubborn so we will see how the situation evolves -_-.
