If you take a Japanese shop as an example and go try and buy one, the entire "AV Mini" lineup goes for ¥1,100. That's $6.86 right now. Yes, I know ToyDemon isn't buying these at retail.
15% blanket import tariff. It's Made in China and TPE is either plastic and/or rubber, so another +25%. Good luck convincing CBP otherwise, they might all have proprietary blends, but at the end of the day, they're polymers of plastic and rubber. That's a 40% effective tariff, now we're at $9.61. If you play dumb and say it's Japanese since it doesn't say it's Made in China anywhere on the packaging, and the lube packet inside IS Made in Japan, it's still 15%, so now you're at $7.89.
DHL charges less than either FedEx and UPS for brokerage fees, $17.50, so now you need to figure out how to have DHL ship it to you for negative $9.44, or have Japan Post ship it for ~$10 since USPS won't charge you brokerage fees.
Would this be a better value at $6.86 or even $11? Yeah. That's an old mental note of how much the yen was worth, 1 yen = 1 penny. Those days are long gone. If you want it for that much, go move to Japan!
They've got an even cheaper lineup that only weigh 180g and come in what looks like a bag of chips or nuts. 606 yen. $3.78! I can't imagine those being any good. Somebody at NPG lost the plot...
