Video Review: Kokos' Big Hip Samanda Masturbator
At first glance the Kokos Big Hip Samanda has everything going for it. Its young look and spread eagle design is sexually appealing and also from the makers of two of my favorite hip masturbators the Meiki Cherry 2 and the Meiki Pure Hip. So in essence this hip masturbator should be a homerun. Unfortunately it has a few design missteps that really hurt the toy and end up leaving it at the bottom of my favorites list.
Sensation & Feeling: 3.0/5
Instead of rambling on about the inner texture being a tad bit lack luster, let us instead discuss the problems that truly hurt this toy in the sensation department. First and foremost is the toy’s flat bottom design. Sometimes this can be a good thing. Take the Meiki Pure Hip for example. It has a flat bottom design and the toy works perfectly. Here however, it fails miserably. The spread eagle shape of the toy demands a full 3D design. The fact that it doesn’t limit the user in positions it can comfortably place this toy in. You want this toy to ride you while you are sitting in a chair or lying on your back. The feeling you get as the partial hips of this toy rest against your crotch and hips is the best sensation this toy has to offer. However that flat bottom design kills it. This is also a dual-hole masturbator which means you get a vaginal and anal cavity. Usually this is a plus because you can choose which route to take on your imagination masturbation exploration. However, on this hip the anal addition seems to be a cliff note. It’s placed insanely close to the bottom of the toy making missionary position (the only real way to use the toy without killing the illusion) impossible. You can hold it, but it then begs to question why bother when the vaginal cavity feels about the same. You can also flip it around but then you’ll be starting at a concave flat bottom with two mysterious port holes looking back at you. So in the end this toy will just have you screaming “WHY?!?!?!?”
Cleaning & Maintenance: 2.0/5
Now, I usually welcome through hole designs when it comes to my masturbators. The design usually makes it easier to flush any fluids out and makes drying a tad bit simpler. Here however is this toy other cock up. The tunnel depth of each passage is rather shallow. If you are using the toy by holding it in both hands and pile driving it down on yourself then of course that tunnel is going to become that much shallower. You following me so far? So once you finish you may end up spurting out through the holes and all over the place. Not a pretty situation at all. Once that has taken place you then have to deal with trying to flush the toy out. On the back of the toy are two holes allowing you to see the foam core Kokos has implemented in to this toy hopping to shave of some weight. Well they failed. Twice. The toy is still 13 pounds and now you have two holes exposing the inner foam core to any water or debris that may enter through there. If this were to happen you are running the risk of the foam core molding or smelling like a kitchen sponge. Not pretty. I am not sure why those holes are there to be honest. Maybe they have a very good reason for being there that I am unaware of. Either way they are a tad annoying and cause me to scratch my head. In the long run they simply make what should be a rather easy cleaning process into an utter nightmare.
Price & Performance: 2.5/5
The Big Hip Samanda retails for $239.95. As far as hip masturbators goes this price tag lands it about in the middle. I honestly think it’s reasonably priced for what you get and the sheer size of the toy. Even so, Kokos makes so many better hips then this that I can simply not see its value. The Meiki Pure Hip is $10 less and an all-around better toy by leaps and bounds. The Meiki Cherry 2 is priced at a staggering $119.95 and offers up a beautiful young looking 3D design that is a pleasure to hold and use. So I cannot for the life of me tell you to buy the Big Hip Samanda when they offer up so many other great hips. They are truly craftsmen, however, this should have stayed on the draft tables a few extra months.
Final Thoughts & Score: 3.0/5 Fair
All in all this is a fair hip. It’s smooth and sexy and begs to be touched. The spread eagle design feels utterly fantastic and really pushes the envelope of imagination when it comes to the “Bottoming out” department. However its numerous missteps and confusing design flaws really hurt this toy. I would have to direct you to the other hips Kokos has to offer. This one simply missed the mark.
